33012 (D6515) "STAN SYMES" HISTORICAL NOTES.
33012 was built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in Jan 1961 and started its working life numbered as D6515 in BR Brunswick green with red buffer beams, light grey roof and white window surrounds with a 3 inch wide light grey stripe along the middle of the body sides which extended round the cab fronts.
1960 Alocated to Hither Green Depot, south east London.
1964 D6515 had yellow warning panels were added to the BR green livery.
1966 D6515 worked B.R. passenger services to/from Swanage during the summer months.
1967 D6515 moved to Eastleigh Depot, near Southampton.
1967 D6515 repainted in BR corporate blue with full yellow ends.
1972 D6515 was renumbered to the TOPS scheme receiving number 33012
1983 (APR 15) 33012 worked passenger service from Exeter St.Davids with 33026 and 33046 as banking engines.
1989 (JAN 14) 33012 at Eastleigh depot for maintainence. (Photo in RAIL No 91, March 9-22 1989, page 21.)
1989 (DEC 17) 33012 worked ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) from Hove to Brighton. (Gen from Alex Hall)
1989 33012 moved to Stewarts Lane Depot.
1990 (JUN 9) 33012 worked ECS (Empty Coaching Stock) from Brighton to Hove. (Gen from Alex Hall)
1990 (DEC 3) 33012 + 33063 worked the 11:00 from Isle of Grain to Shakespear's Cliff carrying TML segments for construction of the Channel Tunnel.
1992 33012 high intensity headlamps fitted at Stewarts Lane depot.

1995 (FEB 6) 33012 moved to Eastleigh
1997 33012 Withdrawn from service and stored out of use briefly.
1997 33012 purchased by the 71A Locomotive Group for preservation.
1998 33012 moved to Mid-Hants Railway where considerable restoration work was done.
1998 33012 running number changed back to original, D6515.
1999 D6515 (OCT 7) moved to Swanage Railway
2000 D6515 repainted in original Brunswick green livery.
2000 D6515 named "STAN SYMES" in honour of Ex B.R. driver and Swanage Railway volunteer Stan Symes.
2000 (MAR) D6515 entered service on the Swanage Railway.
2002 (APR) D6515 oil contaminated with coolant due to failing cylinder liner seals.
2002 (AUG 3) D6515 moved to Norden siding for engine repairs.
2002 (AUG 4) D6515 engine overhaul began.
2002 (AUG 28) D6515 cylinder heads removed.
2002 (NOV 10 12:00 noon) D6515 completed engine started and test run.
2002 (NOV 24) D6515 back into service for The Swanage Railway's Diesel Day event, now carries yellow warning panels on cab fronts.
2003 (JAN 28) D6515 was used for the first operational handover of the single line token from the new Swanage signalbox.
2003 (FEB 15) D6515 worked between Swanage and Harman's Cross to assist with the passing out of signalmen in the new Swanage signalbox.
2003 (MAR 27-28) D6515 hauled a three coach train between Swanage & Norden for the 71A Locomotive Group's members driving event.
