33034 (D6552) HISTORICAL NOTES.

33034 was built by Birmingham Railway Carriage & Wagon Company in April 1961 and started its working life numbered as D6552 in BR Brunswick green livery with red buffer beams, light grey roof and white window surrounds with a 3 inch wide light grey stripe along the middle of the body sides which extended round the cab fronts.

1961 D6552 Alocated to Hither Green Depot, south east London.

1964 D6552 Had yellow warning panels added to the BR green livery.

1967 D6552 Was repainted in allover BR corporate blue livery with full yellow ends.

1972 D6552 Was renumbered to the TOPS scheme receiving number 33034

1988 (JAN) 33034 Withdrawn from service and stored out of use.

2001 (9 JAN) 33034 Arrived at Swanage from MOD Ludgershall for restoration. Stored on siding at Norden.

2002 33034 Repainted into allover BR corporate blue, without running numbers.

2003 33034 Carries allover BR Corporate blue livery with full yellow ends and now carries two running numbers on the body sides inward of the cab doors. TOPS number 33034 at the right hand end and original allocated number D6552 on the left hand end.
