Binaural audio is a system of recording/playback that offers a full 360' listening experience.
One of the main advantages to using the Binaural system is this, you can enjoy the full experience of 3D sound without having the hassle of having to use any additional surround sound decoding equipment. Indeed, the only equipment that you need to use for Binaural playback is a CD Player, a pair of headphones and a pair of ears! As always, the higher the quality of the playback equipment, the greater experience you will have. The only stipulation with Binaural sound is that you can only experience it through headphones, the effect is very much diminished when played back through loudspeakers.
Binaural sound recording has been around for many years but it has not really been accepted as standard for recording because most everybody has grown so accustomed to stereo recordings that it would not be viable for the large studios and artists to use the binaural system.
The actual recording process uses two microphones that are mounted in a dummy head. The dummy head is made to closely resemble a human head and the microphones are located in a position where the eardrum would be positioned. By using this method the microphones respond very much like the human ear and they produce an incredibly lifelike recording. These dummy heads are commercially produce by the company AACHEN and the world renowned company NEUMANN.
One of the best sources of information on the Binaural audio system is Mr John Sunier of THE BINAURAL SOURCE. His company has a website dedicated to Binaural audio where you will find an enormous amount of information and recordings to buy.
Incidentally, I use a NAIM CD3.5 CD Player, Audiolab 8000Q Pre-Amplifier and a pair of STAX Lambda-Nova Electrostatic headphone for my listening but a portable CD Player and an inexpensive pair of headphones will suffice.
I have a few of these Binaural CD's and would be willing to trade for other Binaural recording If you should so wish. Please e-mail me and we can sort something out.
My personal collection of Binaural CD's is as follows:
THE MIST
by Stephen King
The best non-music demo of binaural around! Macabre master King is perfect for binaural reproduction - scarier than a King movie! Fully dramatized by cast of 30 plus creepy sound effects and original music. 73 min., from Simon & Schuster AudioWorks. Very Highly Recommended! Clearly demonstrates the dramatic possibilities of the binaural art...It's a striking recording...The sense of depth and space is startling; the ambient feel of the environment combined with the sense of movement and positioning of the dialog and highly effective sound effects, makes for a memorable experience...Listen in a darkened room for maximum impact. Thomas J. Norton, STEREOPHILE

CYBORGASM
Vol 1
Cyborgasm 1 & 2 are the first erotic audios to be recorded in binaural, using the Aachen Head Acoustics system for what the albums' producers call "Virtual 3D Audio." Using sonic rendering and digital imagination, these two collections of sketches are a sound garden of fleshly delights. They are also one of the most convincing demonstrations of binaural's ability to put the listener where the sound originated - on an equal with the Steven King dramatization "The Mist" on our main site - but Hot instead of Chilling! The producers were Lisa Palac, Editor of FutureSex magazine (whom the New York Times called "the Queen of High Tech Porn") and Ron Gompertz, formerly of Heyday Records (whose binaural music CDs are also offered by THE BINAURAL SOURCE). Also involved were top writers, actors, sex educators, storytellers and musicians. This series originally sold over 70,000 in distribution by Warner Bros. Records. Lisa Palac said "This is a collection of sexual realities...It wasn't easy, but we did it. There's a common perception that it doesn't take much to create erotica...In truth, it may be one of the most difficult things to do. Even the most original and creative ideas end up foiled by the overall stigma associated with (gasp!) pornography." The different tracks feature men and women telling erotic stories and sharing their explicit fantasies with you - from whispered sweet nothings to no-holds-barred lust. Also amorous encounters and erotic spoken word, mixed with sensual music and natural and environmental sounds. For some of the wildest recorded listening of your life, just put on your headphones, close your eyes and open your ears and mind! Volume 1 features such noted performance artists as Annie Sprinkle, Susie Bright, Don Bajema and Mistress Kat. Some of the titles are: Virtual Love, Embrasse-moi, Deep Inside Your Cosmic Body Erotic, Lost Innocence, Daddy's Grrl, Wet Nightmare, The Swing.
