What is a Webring?

Webring is one of the best ways to find great sites. Similar sites are grouped together in Rings and each site is linked to another by a simple navigation bar. Rings form a concentration of sites, allowing visitors to quickly find what they are looking for. Each Ring is started and maintained by an individual web site owner called the RingMaster. RingMasters determine the look and feel of the Ring, approve and manage member sites, and encourage member sites to join. RingMasters also help to develop virtual communities based on the Ring topic.  Yahoo!Webring is free and easy. To find, join, or create a Ring, just follow the links on http://webring.yahoo.com

About The Deep Sea Trawlers WebRing

There are a few different Webrings catering for sites with maritime content, but I could not find one which catered to all people with a keen interest in Trawl Fishing and other commercial fishing techniques.

So, this ring came to fruition in September 2000 and the founding site is www.arctic-corsair.co.uk    The Arctic Corsair site is of course, run by my father but I am handling the maintenance of the ring and its membership.

The Trawlers webring is open for membership to anybody who has a Trawling related or commercial fishing site.   Please take this page as a general invite from the Ring Master, to add your web site to the Yahoo!WebRing called The Deep Sea Trawlers Sitering.

HOW TO JOIN THIS WEBRING

  1. Ensure that your site meets the following criteria;

Your pages must contain maritime related information.
The pages should NOT contain material or links that is grossly offensive to the Web community including blatant expressions of bigotry, racism, hatred or profanity. The pages should NOT promote or provide instructional information - or links to sites providing such information - about illegal activities, or promote physical harm or injury against any group or individual.

The pages should NOT display material or links containing nudity or pornography of any kind.

The Ringmaster of the Deep Sea Trawling WebRing reserves the right to remove any page that in his opinion does not meet the preceding requirements. Sites can, and may be arbitrarily rejected by the Ringmaster and submission of the following form does not guarantee acceptance.

This is a FREE SERVICE to the Maritime Community on the Internet. The only things needed to maintain your eligibility (once accepted in the ring), are the SiteRing link and graphic (logo) on your homepage - and of course to follow the above guidelines.

If you display the logo on a different page other than your main entry page, please add a link, i.e. "Member of the Trawlers Ring", on your main entry page pointing to the page where the logo is displayed (on your site - do not link it back to the ring homepage); i.e. if I used this particular page as my main entry page, then the link "Member of The Trawlers WebRing" would point to my index.html file, which is where I display the logo.

The above is in fairness to the other members of the ring, and to make navigation of the ring as easy as possible for our visitors. Remember, if our visitors do not find what they are looking for at your site, they might find it on your neighbours site.

Note: Do not "hot link" the logo (graphic) from my server, please adhere to the instructions regarding this.

IMPORTANT - If your site cannot, or do not follow these rules, we truly thank you for your interest in The Deep Sea Trawlering WebRing, but please do not go any further as your site will be rejected.

  1. Click the Join Now tab on a site that is already  a member of the webring
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions from Yahoo!
  3. You will not see your site in the ring until you have been approved.
You will be notified by e-mail once you are approved,
  4. Yahoo! will then send you an e-mail instructing you on how to install the Ring navigation bar onto your site.

Test the page with your browser to see if it looks OK, graphic showing up etc. If all is fine, E-mail the Ringmaster of the International Maritime Ring and ask him to add you to the ring. Please include your Site ID Number in the e-mail message. He will want to look at your page to make sure your page meets the guidelines and make sure the Maritime Ring HTML fragment on your page is ok.

IMPORTANT:
The html code must be added to your site, and the Ringmaster advised accordingly, within 7 days of submitting your site - as your site will otherwise be automatically removed from the queue.
