My Thoughts On JesusBy Lisa, Jennifer, Carol, and Kenneth CarlsonDuring my daily Bible reading, I read about some of Jesus’ miracles. As I read about these miracles, a few thoughts occurred to me. The first miracle I read about concerned the healing of a paralyzed man. The man’s faith that Jesus could heal his paralysis was so great, that Jesus healed not only his paralysis, but also his spirit—Jesus forgave the man his sins. The thought occurred to me that Jesus heals us to the extent of our faith. If we believe that Jesus can heal us physically as well as spiritually, He will, in the way that is best for us. If we only believe that we can be partially healed, does this make us “blind” to the truth? Does our lack of faith that we can be healed in whole derive from fear? I believe that true faith occurs when we no longer fear, for we truly know and believe in our hearts that Jesus is taking care of us. It is very important to remember though, that the Lord heals us in whatever way is best in accordance with His higher Will, which may not necessarily be in the way that we expect. Many times, our prayers are answered in ways that we are not expecting. For example, one time when Jesus and His disciples were in Capernaum, some tax collectors asked Peter (a disciple) if Jesus paid taxes. Peter said that Jesus did not need to pay taxes because He was a King. The tax collectors did not understand this, they were “spiritually blind”, and they became angry. When Jesus became aware of what had happened between Peter and the tax collectors, He told Peter to place his fishing line into the sea and then to open the mouth of the first fish that he caught. Peter followed the Lord’s instructions and opened the mouth of the first fish that he found. To Peter’s amazement, there was a coin in the Fish’s mouth—the exact amount needed for Jesus to pay His temple tax. I do not think that Peter was expecting to find the coin in the fish’s mouth. Jesus knew that the tax collectors were spiritually blind and He did not want to offend them. It was not yet His time. Jesus chose the time when He gave His life for our sins. Jesus voluntarily gave His Life for our sins. We must be very grateful for this. Jesus is God. God was willing to come to earth as a human in order to die for our sins so that we could be saved. God loves us so much. God, the Creator of Everything, came down to die for us, because He loves us so much. We have done so much to hurt our Heavenly Father, and yet He offers us the Chance to Be Saved. I almost feel like crying when I think about the infinite extent of the Lord’s Love. Oh, Lord, you are so great! I stand in awe of your Love! Thank you for this Gift!I also read about the miracle when Jesus was out in a boat with His disciples. Jesus was sleeping and a big storm arose. The disciples became very frightened and called to Jesus for help. Jesus woke up and told the storm to calm down. It did. The disciples were amazed. I am amazed. The Lord is God. We must remember this. We must Respect this. We would not exist if it were not for the Lord!Another miracle that I read about was when Jesus was with his disciples in a boat. Jesus’ disciples were getting frustrated because they were fishing and no fish were entering into their nets. They tried and tried to no avail. Then Jesus instructed them to cast their nets into the sea. They were surprised at Jesus’ instructions, but they did what Jesus said. Sure enough, their nets became so full of fish that they were too heavy to pull into the boat. When we follow the Lord’s instructions and will for our lives, we succeed. When we trust our own human understanding we fall and stumble. Our Heavenly Father knows what is best for us.My Dear Sweet Heavenly Father, My Dear Sweet Lord Jesus, My Dear Holy Spirit, all of the Angels and all of the Saints,I Love you All and I ask You to come into my life. Please enter my heart, My Dear Sweet Lord Jesus, and pleas take the throne of my life. I want to do Your Will, My Lord. I want to Listen to You and Follow You. Please may I not close my mind to Your truth by my Human nature. Please may I trust my life to Your Will and not to my own Human understanding. Thank You, Lord Jesus, for your Love. Thank You for Everything! In Jesus’ name I pray, Through the Power of the Holy Spirit, My Lord I Love You, Amen.Copyright © 2000 Lisa, Jennifer, Carol, and Kenneth CarlsonPrayer for the World Eternal Love God is Love June 17, 1997-A Day in the Life of an Ordinary Family |
