Legal Requirements
"A marriage in St. Lucia is comparable to a marriage in Paradise!"

Applications to marry are made through our local lawyer to the Attorney General who issues the marriage license following a two day residency requirement for the couple. The Attorney General should receive the application at least four (4) working days before the license is needed. Minimum of three (3) days is accepted.
The island's legal requirements are as follows:
  • Passport and Birth Certificate or Birth Certificate and ID
  • Minimum of 2 days residency before you apply for a license.
  • If either party is divorced, a Decree Absolute, with the original raised seal of the court of issue. (Or duly notarized copy)
  • If either party is widowed, death certificate of the deceased spouse.
  • If a name has been changed by deed poll, proof is required.
  • If one of the parties is under the age of 18 evidence of consent of parents is required in the form of an affidavit stamped by a notary public.
  • If any of the required documents are not in English, an authenticated translation must be made available.
