American Indians

When I was a child my father told me that his great grandfather was of the
Blackfoot tribe in Canada. Since that time I have always been interested in
the Native American Heritage. My boyfriend is also of Native American Heritage .

We have gathered a few pictures and poems that we would like to share.

Native American Prayer

Oh Great Spirit, whose voice I hear in the winds,

and whose breath gives life to all the world - hear me.

I come before you, one of your children. I am small and weak.

I need your strength and wisdom.

Let me walk in beauty

and make my eyes ever behold the red and purple sunset.

Make my hands respect the things you have made,

my ears sharp to hear your voice. Make me wise,

so that I may know the things you have taught my people,

the lesson you have hidden in every leaf and rock.

I seek strength not to be superior to my brothers,

but to be able to fight my greatest enemy, *MYSELF*.

Make me ever ready to come to you,

with clean hands and straight eyes,

so when life fades as a fading sunset,

my spirit may come you without shame.

The Dream catcher can be fashioned in many different manners,
true natives of yore used branches they found near their camps.
Slowly bending them to form a circle and using animal sinew to weave the web.
Today in the modern world we use more convenient metal rings, but the
effect it still the same a beautiful dream catcher.

Here are some examples.
Native Americans also used Shields to adorn their teepee's.
Each shield showing a reflection of their tribal beliefs.
Here are a few examples.
The remainder of this page is devoted to pictures that we have
collected that reflect our pride to be Native Descendants.
