| The City of Queanbeyan was founded in the late 1830s, making it an
old city by Australian standards. It is located on the outer perimeter
of the Australian Capital Territory (home of Canberra, Australia's capital
city) on the New South Wales side of the border. It has for a long time
been a regional centre for pastoralists to acquire supplies.
The city straddles the Queanbeyan River, which flows from the Googong Dam upstream. |
