Directions to The Barnum Museum

From I-95 South: Take Exit 27, bear right following sign for Lafayette Boulevard. Follow onto Lafayette and take right at State Street. Turn right onto Main Street and The Barnum Museum will be on left, two blocks down.

From I-95 North : Take Exit 27 (Lafayette Blvd.) Continue straight off exit ramp through five lights. Turn left onto Main Street at the fifth light. The Museum will be on right past the first stop light.

From 8-25 South : Take Exit 3 (Main St. and Washington Ave.) and stay in left lane, following the Main Street South signs. Continue straight on Main Street. The Museum will be on the left.

From The Merit Pkwy . (Rte. 15) West: Take Exit 52 to the route 8-25 Connector. Take the connector to Rte. 8-25 South and follow the Rte. 8-25 directions from there.

From The Merit Pkwy . (Rte. 15) East: Take Exit 49S to the Rte. 8-25 Connector. Take the Connector to Rte. 8-25 south and follow Rte. 8-25 directions from there.  

Breakfast At Museum
  • April 8 – Program to be announced.
  • May 6"Circus Minimus" – This one-man extravaganza offers non-stop, spine-tingling audience participation and a lively circus created by children.
  • June 3 – The eternally popular fairy tale, "Little Red Riding Hood," will come alive in this vivacious and lively version of the classic children's story.
  • July 1 – This family-oriented party will celebrate circus showman Phineas Taylor Barnum's 190th birthday with clowns, cake, comedy and children.

The programs, co-sponsored by the Connecticut Post and Fishing Buddies coffee shop, are free with museum admission, and include a performance, continental breakfast and self-tours of the museum and the special exhibit, "Shocked and Amazed:  The World of Side Show."
 

Attendance at "Breakfast at The Barnum" is free to museum members.

Cast & Characters

P.T. Barnum shared his talent for showmanship with dozens of interesting people. Jenny Lind, Joice Heth ("George Washington's nurse"), Chang and Eng, ( the famous Siamese twins), and many more, were all part of Barnum's cast of characters.
