  ASIM'S WEBWORLD: COLLEGE CENTRAL:
Selecting a School

There are many sites out there that help you find the school that is best for you. The best one I've encountered so far is the US News & World Report ".EDU" site. It offers you the flexibility in searching using several guidelines including distance from home, cost, size, geographical location, etc. The site is secured so it does not allow non-site form submission. In other words, you'll have to fill out the application at the US News site:

Comparing Schools

After you get that list of colleges which meet your criteria, then you want to compare them. The "side-by-side", four-college comparision worksheet will show you how the colleges you select stack up against each other. This is un-biased information categories such as cost, diversity, size, etc.

School Ranking Systems

Even though no rank is more important than your mental rank of colleges in order of preference, there are people who...well, rank colleges for a living. They take into account various aspects of many schools and they usually are dependable if they have been around for a long time. Please do note though, President Casper of Stanford University brings up an interesting point about rankings [specifically the US News rankings].
