COURSE GOALSThis one-year course introduces students to the integration of software and hardware in the production of written and oral projects. CD ROMS, scanners, telecommunications, laser discs, LCD panels, camcorders, regular and computer based cameras, printers, and both windows-based and MAC-based computers are utilized. Word processing, spreadsheet, data base, desktop publishing, font enhancement, graphics, telecommunications, sound, and presentation software are used in the development of projects. Whole class, small group, and individual projects form the basis for this class. A prerequisite for this class is the completion of Computer Fundamentals. This course will fulfill one of the elective credits required for graduation.
1 . To demonstrate skill in the use of external equipment as a source of computer input.
2. To know where and how to access information resources using the computer.
3. To integrate various software programs in the production of quality projects.
4. To develop skill in the use of different output devises including LCD panels, display monitors, color and black and white printers, overheads, and tapes.
5. To create professional quality printed and electronic materials utilizing various computer-based hardware and software.
6. To learn to critique work of self and others in a positive and constructive manner.
7. To increase cooperation, responsibility, and initiative in working with others to complete a project.
8. To develop desirable personality traits, work habits, and job skills essential for success in the business world.
