Course Scope
This one-credit course will build upon the fundamental computer skills learned previously. Students will enhance their skills in using professional software programs in the areas of word processing, electronic spreadsheets, database management, desktop publishing, electronic mail, business graphics, and presentation. General office responsibilities in an office environment will be reinforced. Required and elective modules will enable students to maximize their own potential within their areas of interest. This course will fulfill the one half computer credit required for graduation and one-half of an elective credit or one full elective credit for graduation.
Course Goals 1 . To develop desirable traits, work habits, and job skills essential for success in the electronic office.
2. To bridge the gap between the classroom and the business office, preparing the student for an effective transition.
3. To identify how the work of managers is different from that of other employees.
4. To describe the importance of assignment duties, delegation of authority, and evaluating the completed work.
5. To enter, edit, modify, and save memos, letters, documents, and other office correspondence by using a computerized word processor.
6. To enter, edit, modify, and save files and reports by using a computerized database.
7. To plan, create, modify, and generate reports using information in a database.
8. To design, enter, debug, modify, and execute programs and macros to generate reports using information in a database.
9. To enter, edit, modify, and save worksheets and graphs by using a computerized spreadsheet.
10. To plan, create, modify, and generate worksheets, reports, and graphs using information in a spreadsheet.
11. To design, enter, debug, modify, and execute programs and macros using information in a spreadsheet.

13. To retrieve, edit, modify, and save information by using telecommunications connected to sources outside the building.

16. To know when and how to move information between different applications.
17. To know where and how to find information by using manuals, training tapes, and electronic help screens.
18. To understand the importance of personal appearance, grooming, and good health in the business world.
19. To develop positive attitudes, motivation, and productive work habits.
20. To develop cooperation, responsibility, self-discipline, and initiative in the world of work.
21. To develop the skills necessary to cope with job-related conflict, stress, and discrimination.
22. To develop appropriate employability skills.
