How the Excel application works):
The Visual Basic program provides input boxes for
fixed/floating fastener case and part tolerance. User
selects hardware desired from a pull down menu and enters the part
tolerances as required. Once
the design data
has been entered, user clicks the calculate button to
review results from design data given. Modifications can be
made to improve the design if necessary and recalculated.
Excel Database):
The application uses a worksheet in the Microsoft Excel file to
use as the data base for problems and the hardware available.
The database contains hardware data and any geometric problems the
user has saved to the database. User can
delete/add/edit/modify items in the database by the application or
on the worksheet. Another Excel sheet is for printing reports of a
particular problem save to the data base.
Reports):
Reports can be generated for a problem from an Excel sheet for
any problem
that has been saved to the database. Additional notes can be
added on the reports if needed.
Advantages):
The Excel application provides several advantages for the
users.
- Quickly calculates the fixed fastener, floating fastener
case or part(s) evaluation with the design data given.
- Provide results that would be placed in a geometric tolerance
frame on a detailed drawing.
- General information of the fixed fastener, floating
fastener case and non cylindrical parts..
- Instructions on how to use the application.
- Problems can be saved, modified, deleted, and/or retrieve from
the Excel data base.
- Shows equations that were used in the application for the user
to view.
- The application, database, and report functions are all
contained in one file.
Limitations):
The Excel application has one limitation. It is as follows:
- User can not run multiple applications.
