Alrighty. What in the world do I like to do? This is a
very funny question because so many times I am
asked, "Ok, so what should we do?". This is always
when I seem to respond, "Um. I don't know.." Does
this sound familiar to you? I sure hope so or else I
got the short end of the stick. In actuality I have
many things that spark my interest.
As I have already mentioned earlier, I am a
creative person. God has given me the gift of
creativity in many areas. Art has always been
something that has always been very close to me. It
has always been something I could lean back on. I
can remember loving art as far back as
Kindergarten. Although I do not have as much time
to do art as in the past I still enjoy doing what
artwork I can on the computer. This lets me do two
things I like at once.
I like computers! Computers are so awesome. I
remember growing up watching my brothers, Casey
and Scott, play on their Commodore 64 computer.
Although I didn't really share their interest at the
time it paved a path that I would later follow. In high
school when I had to make the choice of which
classes I would take, I decided to try a computer
programming class. It was very interesting to me. It
gave me a way of using my creativity and
imagination and bring things to life (figuratively).
Although art was my first passion, computers are the
field of study I chose at college. My hopes are that I
can mold the two together somehow.
My senior year of high school I began a new
hobby of writing. Although I didn't have a very big
talent in that area, it was a way of expressing myself
in a big way, which was just what I needed at the
time. I began to write a lot of poetry at this time of
my life. Another thing I picked up in all this was
writing quotes. Not for fame, but for remembering
little phrases that would come to my head. So I
decided one day (December of 1996) to write a quote
for every day of the year. I finished this in 1997 and it
marked a large accomplishment for me.
Recently I have really begun to enjoy music
quite a bit. The spring of 1998 I began to expand my
interest in writing and try to write music myself. I
have currently written 5 songs, each having to do
somehow with my savior Jesus Christ. Jesus has
become a big inspiration in my life at this point in my
life. The writing that I have done is a testimony to
just how he has worked in my life because you can
see how I changed as an individual. Music to me is
one of the biggest ways to express how I feel with
mere words. Music carries feeling with it in a way
that poetry couldn't.
On the non so creative side of me, I really enjoy
science fiction. Don't get the idea that I am a `sci'
nut. But it is just something that seems to get my
mind off of the world around me (at least for a little
while). I don't want to run from the world but just
relax (just though I'd stress this point). I enjoy
hanging out with my buddies and watching Star Trek:
Voyager.
I think it's only fitting at this time to mention the
TV and internet thing. I really don't watch much
television or surf the net as much anymore. I feel
that Satan uses this a whole lot to tempt people now
a days. It is very easy for me to get sucked in and slip
into sin with some of the stuff that is out there. I try
to selectively use these.
I'm really not very interested in many sports.
Sorry! I used to really like football, and even played
some in school, but it never really stuck. I guess it
just isn't me. hehe I have no other excuse to offer. I
do, however, really enjoy hiking. Mountains are so
beautiful and I just love running to the top of em. I
could go into many of the intricate things I love
about hiking, but I could go for pages. Symbolically, I
can relate a lot of what I see in the outdoors to God.
Walking in it is just a constant reminder of Him.
