“Tell me how you adapt and modify your classroom for
students with mild to moderate disabilities.”
“It seems to me that I never really have enough time to work with these
students! I spend most of my time telling them to get their books open
and find their pencils. Once I’ve made the assignment, I try to pull these
students back to the round table and work with them one-on-one. They
seem really dependent on this now - in fact, they don’t even attempt to
complete an assignment until I offer my assistance.
There have been times when I’ve let them work in groups with other
students, but they just seem to let the rest of the group do all the work
and they don’t do anything. I think it’s best when I just get them alone
and read the assignment and the questions to them.
Most of the time they know the answers - as long as I do the reading.
A lot of them are just lazy, I think.”
