A Note From STAPES

*A NOTE TO ALL OF WALTER"S NORTHEAST FRIENDS WHO VIEW THIS SITE - from STAPES
The promise was kept. At 3 pm on Tuesday Mr. Staples went to St. Lukes to say the 16 word poem that every current/ former student needs to hear before leaving this world.

So much depends upon
A red wheel barrow
Glazed with rain water
Beside the white chickens

I taught that poem so the memory of my childhood friend never leaves any of us. Walter told me several times over the years that this was his favorite poem and what it still meant to him. My wish:
....Don't just read this, talk about Walter and never let his spirit die, by fixing your own baggage and when you're weak and about to make the same mistake again, think of Walter, cherish his memory (the way I do) and get the power to make your life better. If your life is better - you add to the world (instead of taking away)  and the world is a better place. In closing, Walter Henry can rest in peace because he made the world a better place.
