The Japanese Cultural Association
Overview

The Japanese Cultural Association is a
culture club affiliated with Rutgers University of New
Jersey. It's primary goal is to bring people together
that have common interests in various aspects in Japanese
culture. The club is always looking for new areas to
expand and welcomes both new members and new ideas to the
club.

Constitution of the Japanese
Cultural Association
Preamble:
The Japanese Cultural Association (JCA) is devoted to
spreading the word and beauty of Japanese culture by
promoting and sponsoring events and activities that
enhance its awareness.
Article 1: Means
The Japanese Cultural Association strives to fulfill
its purpose of the spreading of Japanese culture through
the following means:
- Holding weekly meetings in which
knowledge of culture is discussed and
presented in front of other members
- Film showings held at aforementioned
meetings that further enhance the
knowledge through an entertaining fashion
- Working with similar clubs in other
schools to organize events to accomplish
its purpose
- Scheduled events including University
funded programs, educational
demonstrations, trips to culturally
related locations, and informative
lectures
Article 2: Organizational Structure
There are four officers who are elected to handle all
responsibilities and executive procedures: President,
Vice-President, Treasurer, and Secretary. The Secretary
acts as a voice for the members and controls all
announcements and newsletters while maintaining the
membership rosters. The Treasurer handles all financial
duties including budget, programming, and fund
allocation. The Vice-Presidents duty is to deal
with individual needs and problems with the members, as
well as to take control of the Presidents duties if
and when he/she is unavailable. The Presidents
purpose is to handle the executive decisions of the club
and supervise its officers.
The actual duties of aforementioned officers are
subject to change according the needs of the JCA and said
officers.
Sub-clause: Elections are held yearly, during Spring
Semester. Only members (See Article 3 on Members) are
allowed to run for officer positions and vote during
elections and polls.
Article 3: Members
An official member of the JCA is defined as any
Rutgers University student who attends any meeting during
the year, or expresses interest towards the club, but can
not attend. All members must at some time register by
signing their names on an official JCA membership roster.
Non-discrimination clause: Any programs or membership
criteria discriminating against race, religion, color,
national origin, ancestry, age, sex, sexual orientation,
handicap, marital status, or veteran status will not be
allowed.
Article 4: Amendments
All amendments to this constitution must be presented
to the members and voted on by a 2/3 majority.
