                                     Thomas Jackson was born on January 21 or 22 in Clarksburg Virginia.  His father and Elizabeth his 6 year old sister died when he was two.  In 1830 his mother remarried and died a year later in 1831.  Jackson was forced to live with his uncle. he lived there until he was 13, and then he went to U.S. Military Academy at West Point. He graduated in 1846 standing 17th out of 59 graduates.  He began his U.S. Army carieer as a second Lt, and first in Artillery Regiment.
