The Band, Westlife are made up of 5 menbers these are Shane, Nicky,
The boy band formerly known as WestSide have changed their
name.
Westside to Westlife. On Monday 22nd February 1999 RCA announced
that for legal reasons new Irish pop sensation and Smash Hits 'Best
New Tour Act' winners, WestSide will be changing their name to WestLife.
Investigations revealed that there is at least one other band registered
in the US with the name Westside and as RCA's band will be looking towards
global success this could have caused legal complications.
Co-manager, Ronan Keating, from well know irish boyband Boyzone, comments:
'Despite the high profile WestSide have already built people will soon
get
used to the new name WestLife - it's got the same ring to it. They're not
the first
band that have had to change their name and with an act as brilliant as
this
it's not about the name, but about the music'.
With a change of name WestLife's debut single 'Swear It Again' was released
in the UK on the 1th April. The name change will come into force on
Monday the 1st March.
If winning the prestigious 'Best New Comer' Smash Hits Award wasn't enough,
'Westlife' will soon be gracing the live circuit and will be supporting
another
well known band from the Emerald Isle. The boys will be joining their fellow
countrymen Boyzone on a European tour, which will take place throughout
June.
The debut single from Westlife 'Swear It Again' released on the 19th April,
has a fantastic CD Rom part to it.It has the Ronan Show on the CD Rom
It's true, there is a stunning CD Rom part to the brand spanking debut
single from the 5 sexy guys from the West coast of Ireland, Westlife.
The CD Rom contains a video clip from the 'Swear It Again'
video, a clip from their debut launch gig at the Cafe
de Paris
in London, the entire song as trackable lyrics so
you can sing
along, a Westlife quiz so you can test your knowledge
on the
guys and a video interview with their co manager, the one and
only Ronan Keating.
WestLife: Is there any stopping them....?
Will Boyzone soon be ousted out of spotlight, considering the
newfound success of the new boy band sensation, Westlife? I doubt very
much
But I suppose they have to try.
Last week Westlife rocketed into the Irish charts
at number one outselling it's
closest contender by 2 to 1.This week the Irish fellas have kept the number
one
slot maintaining their phenomenal record of sales in Ireland. Hopefully
for
the lads they will repeat their untold success in
The UK..watch that number one space....
WestLife: Saturday morning stars!!Don't miss Westlife perform their fantastic
debut single this saturday. There seems to be no rest for the wicked.
Having already had their faces on a string of magazine covers, including
Top of
the Pops & Smash Hits, and having appeared on and presented
MTV,
Westlife will now be re-appearing on SMTV this Saturday 24th
April.
SMTV's presenter Cat is, not surprisingly, very excited
about having
the boys back to perform on the show, following their interview a few weeks
ago. The Irish sensation will be performing their debut smash 'Swear it
Again', which will hopefully steal the number one position this Sunday.
Lucky Westlife boys in the sun, the newly crowned Irish heart throbs are
currently
working on their tans in sunny Tenerife. On The Beach you may be wondering
what they are doing there - should I let you in on the secret?
Alright then!
Kian, Shane, Mark, Nicky and Bryan are in the middle of
filming the
video for their new single. Gosh it's alright for some, first they become
pop
superstars overnight and meet famous people whilst
getting paid for it!
Then they jet off all over the world. We can only dream of these luxuries,
never mind.
'If I Let You Go' makes NUMBER ONE!
Congratulations and many thanks to all ninety-thousand-and-a-bit
of you who bought the single, which went straight in at NUMBER ONE.

Saturday 12th December saw Westlife's number one single 'Flying Without
Wings'
win ITV's Record Of The Year title...
The track, which topped the charts in October this year, was
voted the best record this year by thousands of telephone voters.
As the voting unfolded, it became clear that the contest
was a two horse race, with Westlife and Ronan Keating
way ahead of the rest of the field.
The boys pipped their manager at the post though, to add yet another coat
of gloss to
a truly fantastic year for Nicky, Shane, Mark, Bryan and Kian.

Even though Westlife have been away from things for a couple
of months
They have been busy promoting there album in America and Asia.
The next single to be released from their self titled album, Westlife,
is
the track called 'Fool Again' Which has been remixed specially
For the release in the year 2000. It also has a special
enhanced CD Rom, which has if you are a member to the fanzine
magazine has a secret message, the CD Rom also has the
video to 'Fool again' on it.
If this new single of Westlife goes to no. 1, they will be the first
Band ever to have their first five singles go to no.1.
They currently hold the title for the first four singles to go
to no.1 with another Irish band, Bewitched.
This would be the ultimate achievement for Westlife even
though they've already scored many many number
ones , sold two and a half million albums globally, achieved triple
platinum in the UK (12 times Platinum in Ireland)
and won Record of the Year 1999!
WestLife: Crack the States!
The group have made their mark in the U.S.A. by debuting
at number 96
with their first Stateside single "Swear it Again". Not bad at all!-
Especially when you consider that this is in the first
week of
release! But this is still a long way to go for Westlife
to have world domination by the end of the year 2000!!
Clearly it is only a matter of time before they conquer the
charts over there- just as they have over here and the rest of Europe.
Westlife are No.1 again for the fifth time, it's a Record!!
Westlife have made it into the history books. Their single
'Fool Again'
went straight in at No 1, making them the only band to have their
first five singles enter the charts at the top spot.
Despite Mel C's declaration on Radio 1's Sunday Chart Show that everyone
should buy her single 'Never Be The Same Again' as "they're already
too many boy bands and too many are Irish!", it seems Mel just fired up
the
Westlife camp. The Westies' fans went hunting high and low to pick
up every last copy they could, and clinched that record 5th No.1. But it
was
seriously close, with Westlife only outselling Mel C by 1,400, most of
which
seemed to have been bought on Saturday. By that time, Westlife had
set off to New York thinking they had been beaten by Mel & Lisa and
only
discovered their win when listening to Radio 1's Sunday Chart Show.
Apparently, their co-manager, Ronan Keating lost his voice due to the excitement,
while the boys were last seen jumping around their hotel rooms
and downing copious amounts of champagne. What an April 'Fool Again' for
the boys!
Westlife wrote themselves into the record books when their latest single
became their fifth to enter the British charts at number one.
The quintet earned their place in the Guinness Book of Records when
"Fool Again" knocked Spice Girl
Mel C solo single "Never Be The Same Again" off the top spot.
Westlife's achievement beats the record set last year by fellow Irish stars
B*Witched,
whose first four singles all went straight in at number one.
After the news was announced, Westlife's Kian Egan told the BBC:
"This is one of the greatest moments. It is like a dream come true.
"Who would have ever imagined two years ago that we would be making chart history?
"We'd like to thank everyone that has supported us."
