Welcome to the Agape project. We had a wonderful time. An exciting, challenging and stretching time during which we all learnt so many new things, just a few of which we would like to share with you now.

OUR PASSION
"The wheels of the stroller slam into the kerb narrowly avoiding entanglement with the plastic bag that has been there since Wednesday. The children in their uniforms dance and laugh as they set it back on its correct course and run ahead.
Mothers call to their children in Mandarin, Turkish, Korean, Tamil, English, Arabic, Cantonese as the children mingle with each other. Some parents are alone, while others group together with small ones in tow congregating in their ethnic circles. They greet each other with smiles; talking and laughing as the children enter the school-yard. Muslim, Buddist, Hindu, Christian and Athiests. Who will tell all these people that Jesus died for them?"

The project began with much top quality training from the staff. We studied many different aspects of the various religions, visiting a Mosque, a Buddhist temple and having speakers from different religions coming to present their beliefs to us.

We were divided into four strands to employ four different strategies for outreach. Community, drama, evangelistic public speaking and ESL (English as a second language) classes.

COMMUNITY STRAND
We were challenged when we saw how exciting it can be to be involved in people's lives sharing the gospel. There are many women in the migrant communities who are struggling and lonely. Meeting their needs gives us a chance to show them the love of Jesus.

DRAMA STRAND
The role of the drama group was to attract children and parents and create a relaxed setting for them to hear the gospel. It was great to see the kids being entertained, but what excited us most was the sight of the other team members sharing the gospel with the parents. The parents were friendly and open to have the gospel shared with them as a result of us entertaining their children.

SPEAKER STRAND
Training, training, lots of training - actually, some of the best public speaking training I've ever done. Useful and even fun. Writing, writing, lots of writing, it's not real easy to write a talk to communicate the gospel to twenty people from different cultures, but we did it.
