The Upcoming Delegation Assembly: Renewing Mission,
Renewing Life (October 29-31, 2001)
The last General Chapter developed some priorities in an effort to renew the Congregation at this stage of our history. All of us are asked to intensify our commitment of animation at all levels: the renewal of our charism and our sense of consecration; the clarification of our identity and the exclusive finality of our mission; the theoretical and existential deepening our Xaverian spirit; and her renewal of community life as international centers of kerygmatic witness. In this congregational commitment, we will find ourselves in the upcoming Assembly to discern and to make concrete decisions that lead us, in our unique context, toward these important priorities. We will look at the Ratio Missionis Xaveriana and see how it will help guide us in the local Philippine church as animators of mission “ad gentes.” We will also look at some important decisions that have a great impact on the future development of the Delegation. We will have a chance to pray, to break bread together, talk informally and come to know each other a little better than before. It will be our “karios” this month. See you there.
Decisions of the Delegation
Council
q
The formation team of the theology presented nine applications
for the renewal of vows to the Superior Delegate and Council. All nine were
accepted. We offer congratulations and continued blessing in the discernment of
their vocation to: Everaldo dos Santos, Ernesto Jaramillo, Bonifacio Gutierrez
Garcia, Vicente Gudino Santana, Polash H. Gomes, Rafael Bardon Sedano, Alejandro
Mares Millan, Philip Mondol and Ernesto Dal. Giovanni D’Elia and Eduardo
Villena will renew temporary vows for up to the time of their final profession
while we await a decision from the General Direction regarding them.
q
Plans for the Delegation Assembly are developing. Among the
work of the RMX we will tackle in the Assembly, we will look at the possibility
of adding a pastoral community to the Delegation, justice and peace ministry in
the Delegation, restarting the Delegation newsletter for animation among other
interesting things. An invitation and practicalities of the Assembly will be
forthcoming soon.
q
The Council created a simple plan for the visit of Fr. Luigi
Menegazzo to the Delegation, November 10-17, 2001. He will be able to spend time
in each community during his brief stay with us.
q
The Council requests the community of Kamias to look into a
possible plan to renovate the house by coming to some conclusions about what
they would like to see in the renovation. Then an architectural master plan will
be made.
q The Council has scheduled the meeting of local superiors and their bursars to evaluate our entire administrative process toward the third week of November. The exact date will be forthcoming.
From the Arzobispado
The CBCP – Episcopal Commission on
Indigenous People’s provides a number of suggestions for the observance of
Indigenous Peoples Sunday on October 14, for our pastoral guidance. The theme
this year is: Renewal of Philippine Society through the Strengthening of
Indigenous People’s Communities. Please contact me if you would like a copy.
Fr. Zavala has informed us that the movement toward the new diocesan organization is moving more quickly now, and that even the new offices for the Fairview area are already in operation. Perhaps by November we could hear something more concrete. Up until now, there have been many things said by many of the local clergy that did not materialize. We hope to hear some substantiated news soon, as it will affect the local church setup for all of our communities.
