Unanswered
gazing at the moon
lost in thoughts
all my own
oblivious to it all
that i see,
and have known
and the light
disappears
a winged shadow
falls
my mind races to argue
with what my eyes just saw
a most wonderful sight
as if only for me
a spectacle of beauty
for only my eyes to see
a dragon just passed
between the moon and i
so fast,
she could be missed
in the blink of an eye
is my mind on the edge?
(( it's been there before !! ))
did i really just see
this creature of lore?
so sleek and magestic
her wingspan so proud
have i gone insane?
i ask myself aloud
NO !!
THERE SHE IS !!
i see her once more !!
why is she here?
what's she come for?
and as i sit
on this roof~top
my gaze to the skies
i jump
startled to find
right beside me she lies !!
her head resting
on her claw
her eyes, fixed on me
and she seems just as amazed
at what SHE sees !!
for long moments
we stare
transfixed
in our thoughts
and for the same
reasons
answers
we've sought
where is yesterday?
and who put the stars there?
and where are they now?
and why
do they care?
and with not a word
spoken
except with our eyes
a sly wink she gives me
and off
she flies
and i sit until dawn
waiting for her
return
were her questions answered?
what did she learn?
and what of MY riddles ?!
MY who's,
and why's ?!
why weren't MY answers
in those gentle
red eyes?
maybe they were
and i just didn't
see
but, for now it's
enough to know
that for a moment
i found comfort in her
and she, in me.......
