The year 1920-21 saw the Indian national movement against the British rulers pick a momentum of its own and move from strength to strength. And after Gandhi launched the civil disobedience movement in 1921-22, the freedom struggle entered a new phase. As a recognition of this fact, the first round table conference was held at St. James Palace in London, 1930-31. Gandhi, among others, was in attendance.
