Rabindranath Tagore:

Bengali Indian writer. He translated into English his own verse Gitanjali (`song
offeringsґ) 1912 and his verse play Chitra 1896. He won the Nobel Prize for Literature 1913 for his book "GITANGALI". An ardent nationalist and advocate of social reform, he resigned his knighthood as a gesture of protest against British repression in India.

Thou art the rulers of the minds of all people,
dispenser of India's destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sind, Gujarat and

It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
mingles in the music of Yamuna and Ganga and is chanted by
the waves of the Indian Sea.
