How is it that men when faced with a difficult problem use brute force?

I asked Joe to change the thermostat in my car, because there was a heating issue with it.  I had already purchased the thermostat from the auto parts store previously, and he assured me he was more then capable of it.  Now, well, you'll see.  He goes down stairs to replace the thermostat.  About 45 minutes later he comes up the stairs, yelling at me because my car has an aluminum engine.  I look at him and ask him to slow down and tell me what happened.  He informs me that both.. not ONE.. BOTH bolts were sheared off when he attempted to loosen them in the thermostat housing.  How is it that men when faced with a difficult problem use brute force?  I figured this would be a good time for diplomacy.  I asked him quietly to calm down, state that these things sometimes just happen.  I ask him if there is a mechanic's shop nearby, if

he could please go there and talk with them about an acceptable solution.  He does, and unfortunately the shop is closed.  He goes out the next day gets a 'tap? kit' and 'taps' out where the bolts are sheared off.  He replaces them and the thermostat is installed.
