Apatosaurus (uh-PAT-oh-SAWR-us)


A quadrupedal sauropod from the Late Jurassic of Colorado, Oklahoma, Utah and Wyoming, USA.
Apatosaurus had a very long neck, short body and very long tail. It was shorter than Diplodocus but
three times as heavy, and was once called Brontosaurus (Greek "bronte", thunder) because it was
thought that it made the earth shake when it walked.
