The Zoo at Gulf Breeze, Florida
- October 1999 (page 2 of 4)
Here's
a special type of Warthog. His tusks grow up through his
sinus cavities and exit out the top of his snout.
Even the
smallest fowl display their feathered finery.
A
speckled beauty.
A baby
giraffe was born the day after our visit. Weighing in at
over 120 lbs. and standing 6 feet, 1 inch tall, the male
baby giraffe is being raised by The ZOO staff since he
was rejected by his mother, who has a long history of
rejecting her offspring.
There's a platform so visitors can go eye-to-eye
with the giraffe.
Cougar
Snow Leopard.
Lion on pedestal.
The White Tiger was asleep, so I lowered my camera and 20mm
lens by its strap to take this self-timer photo.
We enjoyed a
rest and took some flower photos in the Japanese Garden.
Linda
likes the flowers, I like the spiders... Different
strokes for different folks.
Then we encountered a
wonderful addition to The Zoo - 30 acres of open land
where animals wander in near-freedom. An elevated
boardwalk provides visitors a gorgeous view. There's also
a train ride through the veldt.
