The ZOO is accredited by the American ZOO and Aquarium Association (AZA) and is guided by four primary missions: to encourage an appreciation for all living things through education, to provide an enjoyable recreational experience for visitors, to participate in the conservation of highly endangered animals, and to study and research captive animals to provide a better understanding of the needs of wild animals. The ZOO is home to over 700 animals of 200 different species. The ZOO consists of a 20-acre walk-through park and a 30 acre wildlife preserve that is visible by train or the boardwalk.

The Gulf Breeze ZOO has sponsored more than 50 trips to Africa in the past 14 years.

The ZOO is located in Florida at 5701 Gulf Breeze Parkway, 10 miles east of Gulf Breeze and 19 miles west of Fort Walton Beach.

The ZOO is a privately owned, for profit organization and receives no tax revenues. See their website at www.the-zoo.com
