Baseball Quotes

For several years, I've been collecting quotes about baseball. Here they are, separated into categories.

General Stuff

It's a Team Game...Sort Of

Chemistry, intangibles, all that sort of stuff.

Mahatma

Just a very small sampling of the vast wisdom of Branch Rickey.

Pitchers and Pitching

Since pitchers are a species unto themselves, they deserve their own category.

Role Models

So, are these guys really role models? Are they supposed to be?

Sportswriters

Why do so many of them suck?

The Actual Game

Some stuff about how the game is played, or at least should be played. Lots of Earl Weaver here.

The Good Ol' Days

You know, that "Everything was better in 1740" crap. Some really priceless whining, as well as a few Enlightening Facts. Perhaps even a Brutal Truth or two.

When We Were Very Young

(With apologies to A.A. Milne.) A collection of quotes from old guys through the ages, who all insisted that baseball was at its peak when they, coincidentally, were at their peak. Currently covering quotes ranging from 1913 to 1997, and you can't tell one decade's bitching from another's. This stuff is really amazing.

Turnerisms

The guy's a freak, people. He is unreal.

Markets: Does Size Matter?

The classic, yet ridiculous, "market size" dispute.
