Karuna Reiki
Karuna is a Sanscrit word used in Hinduism, Buddhism and Zen. It translates to mean any action taken to diminish the suffering of others and could also be translated as 'compassionate action'. When individuals experience enlightenment, they report that all beings are known as one.
Therefore it is natural to extend compassionate action or Karuna to everyone without distinction, as we are all one. As we help others and aid them in their healing process, all beings benefit. It is understood that Karuna is not only extended to others out of love, but also because it is an entirely logical thing to do. In the same way that you would want to heal your own wounds, you would also want the wounds of others to heal. It is stated in Buddhist literature that Karuna must be accompanied by prajana or wisdom to have the right effect.
Karuna is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings working to end suffering on Earth. They continualy send unlimited amounts of healing energy and guidance to us, but not all are receptive to it. As you develop Karuna in yourself, you are helping others, and you will also become more receptive to the Karuna being sent by all enlightened beings. Thus your healing is quickened as well. Karuna Reiki opens you to work more closely with all enlightened beings, including those who are physically present and those in spirit.
Most students find this system more powerful than Usui Reiki! The energy has a more definitive feel to it. It works on the emotional and spiritual levels and helps one become more grounded. Combined with Usui Reiki, it enhances the entire healing process.
The Karuna Master progran is available to all who have taken the Reiki Master training and includes 9-12 additional symbols (depending upon your Reiki lineage). The Karuna Practitioner training is available to those who have completed their Advanced Reiki training and includes the practitioner levels and 8 practitioner symbols. The Karuna Reiki © Training program is registered with the Internationa Centre for Reiki Training and all candidates will be issued with certificates and registration numbers from that Centre.
Origins
The Karuna system of Reiki was developed by William Rand. Using symbols that had been channelled by several Reiki Masters, William developed the attunement prcess and named the system. Some of the symbols have been used in other systems, but they do not have the same effectiveness or healing energies as in the Karuna system. Karuna Reiki also makes use of sound by chanting and toning the symbols to increase the nature of the frequency work.
