Brazil Steelworkers Trip - Photo Main Page



					Steelworker Brazil Visit November 10 - 20, 1999 The United Steelworkers of America, Canadian National Office sent 3 Steelworkers from Canada to Brazil in November 1999 to meet with members of the Metalworkers Union of Brazil called the CUT. The goal of the visit was to exchange information on unionism in the manufacturing sector of the aluminium industry both smelting and fabricating between Canadian and Brazilian workers. I was one of the group that spent 12 days touring workplaces and meeting with Brazilian metalworkers. Jeff Richardson, from the Steelworkers Canadian National Office in Toronto, Raymond Labonte, President of the FSSA, the aluminium workers federation in Quebec which has an affiliation to the Steelworkers and represents almost all the aluminium workers in Quebec, and me, Peter Boyle, President of Steelworkers Local Union 343 in Kingston Ontario, at an Alcan Aluminium fabricating plant. While there, I took over 700 digital photos in Sao Paulo, Salvador and Belo Horizonte and Ouro Preto. I was planing to e-mail many photos to the many friends I met in Brazil however I decided to post this web page so the many who asked me to send photos can download them from this site.
