 A lid from a "Red Vines" container works really well as a bird bath. The birds enjoy this often. It is shallow enough that they are willing to step right in. For those birds that are not used to the automatic watering system, the bird bath serves as a backup water supply. Replace the water daily for health reasons. | |
 The Birds also really enjoy the bicycle wheel swing. Although none of the birds are on the swing at the time of this photo, they use it often. All of the perches in my flights are branches from the trees in the yard. I do not know how true it is, but I feel that the birds get a better chance to strengthen their feet by having to hold on to different size perches. | |

 One of the things I have done in the flight to make the space more useable, as you can see in this photo, is to make a covered unit under the perches for storage. The door in front is hinged at the top and again at the middle. This bifold type of door allows me to open the door without having to take up as much space. Under the unit is where I keep steel cans for seed storage. To help make the cleaning of the flight easier, I have made a PVC frame and attached half inch by one inch welded wire with cable ties. Under the wire is sheet cardboard from large boxes. I just lift the PVC out of the way, roll up the cardboard, throw it away, and replace with new. The PVC frame is easy to remove from the flight to hose down, scrape, or wire brush as needed. The unit seen here is held together with two screws on each side so that is is also easy to remove from the flight for a through cleaning. | |
