Cold, windswept,
mountainous and dry, Antarctica is a land of dramatic
extremes. Most of the continent is covered by a thick coating of permanent
ice, so that it remains the least investigated of the major continents
on the planet, hence the name
terra australis
incognita, or the unknown southern land.
This website
invites you to take a cursory glance into the frigid world of this true
cold desert as we strive towards increased awareness in environmental conservation.
