Talker Wolves

The Talker Wolves are a number of wolves who role-play in a number of private rooms in the chat Talker. It is a near-realtime chat, that is, though it is meant as a chat room and people treat it as such, one must reload the whole page, pictures and all, to see if anyone has spoken. Though wolves were the first species in the game, they are now a minority, next to horses, humans & story characters, and mythicals.

There is no real storyline, it is simply a number of wolves role-playing. The level of realism is very high, when IC, one is expected to play as realistically as possible. The tech level is so low as to be non-existent, and the magic level is very low- though there are a few low-power shape-shifters, that is about it. Occasionally, people will 'persona play', that is, play as their character but ignoring the standards and then pretending that in the big picture, that never really happend. There are also a shrinking number of people who do not try to play real, but do keep up a story, though they often simply speak out of character instead.Singing Farewell to the Sun

Packs are started and run by any wolf. Unlike real life, wolves may interact with wolves of other packs and may have mates & pups no matter what their rank. Packs are not tied to any given room, for wolves may play in wolf, horse, or gl. Packs may be any size, from 2 or 3 members to several dozen. Dominance is automatic within a pack (you show submission to wolves higher ranking than you) but is worked out with wolves from different packs, using rank a guideline.

Running with the PackSince there are no wars or battles, no magic, and no technology, there is little to do with fewer than 2 wolves around at any given time. This is a major drawback, and so many wolves spend time in horse to chat with the horses, instead. On the other hand, playing realistically can take hours if one wishes, and it is hard to have nothing to do if you have company. Though the social system is currently working well, there are still a few old grudges from old times left.

People may play as many characters as they wish, as many different species or magic levels as they wish, may have as many pups as they and their mate wish, etc. There are no rules. This is wonderful, it allows for complete player freedom. There are no rules. This is terrible, it allows for complete player freedom. The only way the wolves hold together is that they follow an unwritten, unspoken standard. No cheating, no powergaming, no carrying IC trouble OOC, or vice-versa, no stealing another's name or character- if they had it first, you change, no stealing another's pic- if they had it first, you ask to share and if they don't agree, you change it, try to keep OOC fights out of the chat, no dragging other people into fights, no lieing, try to meet the realism level of the person or people you're playing with, etc. There are plenty of these 'rules', and every single one is based on years of trial and error and common sense.
