Welcome to Inner Space Caverns

Inner Space is one of the leading show caves in Texas. The cavern is located twenty miles North of Austin on Interstate 35. Guided tours of the cavern are available year round. The tours are approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. It is a walking tour with a distance of just under a mile. Our gift shop has many collectibles and educational kits. We also offer a concession stand with drinks, food, and treats. The entrance to the cavern is through a working cable car which takes you down 100 feet to the first room of the cavern. During the tour, you will experience two multimedia light and sound shows. Please enjoy this site and come visit us to experience it first hand.

Company Profile

Inner Space Caverns was first discovered as the Texas Department of Transportation was constructing the overpass for IH35 south of Georgetown. The highway crews were drilling cores to test the integrity of the land to see if it would support the weight of the overpass. In a few instances, (13 out of 17), they hit a void, or what they called an air pocket. Further investigation was started by drilling a core hole thirty-six inches wide to the "air pocket". The core hole broke through to a room that is now called the discovery room. A man was lowered into the room with a hand held flashlight, he then reported that it was a cavern system that was found. Later, a group of geologists were called in to explore the cave. At that point, Inner Space Caverns was "born" into what we have today.
