As you enter the Kalahari you notice that most of the telephone poles and actually anything tall that resembles a tree has huge lumps of grass piled on to it. These are actually nests of hundreds of birds.

This herd of Springbucks were stationed at this spot for more than a day while the ewes were giving birth. All the ewes in a herd give birth in the same time period. The carnivores use this to their full advantage. At this herd the cheetahs made a few kills on the new born.

A fire, Boerewors and a cool beverage in the Kalahari - what more do you want? The Gemsbok Park is more primitive than Kruger in the sense that it is not so commercialised. The picnic spots do not have wardens present, and are not fenced. It is quite thrilling having lunch while looking out for "visitors".
