Well, we're ready to open up, really. We haven't got everything we would like, but we've some nice things that folk might enjoy. Including, as I remember, "Ran's notes . . ." ;)

Point your browsers to www.westeros.org and click on the Citadel links, or go directly there by trying www.westeros.org/Citadel/index.html

Ran - when are you going to decide what players we can be, and if we can have any other role? You said you have a bunch of admins for it that will play "bigger" roles...if I wanted to be a tavern owner character - would I just be like every other character or would I be able to provide more imput? Just curious how those things work.

The administrators will be handling a lot of the "NPCs" of the court -- Aemon, the king, and so on -- but not on a permanent basis. We'll all have regular characters as well, at all levels of society. :)

As to something like a shop/tavern owner, chances are you could get to name your tavern/inn, maybe describe its rooms, figure out what the common personalities there are like, and so on. :)

That sounds great! That is what I WANT to do! Can my character be the barkeep, or does my character have to be like a roaming character? Could I prepare something and send it to you Ran, or is that jumping the gun way too much?

Barkeep is fine, or whatever it would be for a period tavern. :)

But, it is jumping the gun a little. :) But if you want to start taking notes for your own character, go ahead. :)

Wow, I just took a look at both the coat of arms for Reyne and Tarbeck. I like Tarbeck's the most but the history behind Reyne is fascinating. That settles it! I want to be a Reyne of Castamere. Never let it be said I'm not imaginative. A Red Lion on a silver field is awesome.

Oh and Ran I've done my share of roleplaying. As A GM (Game Master) I often used a character's background for plot devices. I encouraged the players to use the world's background as a way to develop their backgrounds. So, if you have a plot in mind and you want me to fill a role to further a certain plot simply email me. [email protected] and we'll work it out.

I told Ran this in an email but I figure since I found this thread I ought to go on record as saying that Westeros.org and the Citadel are amazing.

Not only is the content overwhelming, the design is very, very well done, IMHO.

Great work guys.

Thanks, MAD-ness. :)

I'll also take this to post to note that Westeros.org may be slow for the next couple of weeks. Our host has had to cut back on bandwith after spending ungodly amounts. However, they'll soon be moving all the non-commercial stuff to the Digex backbone for free, which means we'll be up to snuff again before too long.

The Citadel's been updated with several new mails from GRRM, covering a range of topics, including GRRM's tour schedule. :)

Ran,

I looked into the workings of a MUSH and read tons of MUSH logs from the Ta'veren site.

Will we be using a Telnet application for this?

Also, if you could email me directly about the choice in character type, I'd appreciate it. (A Reyne of Castamere). My email is [email protected].

Yes, a telnet application is useful for it. :) Tales has a page with links and information about various clients specifically designed for MUDs/MUSHes. You can find it at:

http://ta-veren.org/mush/connect/client.html

We've really not gotten to the appoint of setting out who plays what, though. That'll be a bit nebulous until, I guess, a month or two before opening (and when that will be is still a bit unresolved :)

BTW, we have added some extra information at our Blood of Dragons page at Westeros.org. It's just the front page, but it gives a little more idea about what's what. :)
