He fell in love with Eden in Paris on the train Orient Express. He was a police investigator in Santa Barbara but resigned because he thought that Eden had died at the mountains. He opened the detective agency with the money Eden left him. He is the father of Tori Lanes (his old girlfriends)son Chip, which he doesn`t know about. He was the result ofthe time when Cruz and Tori were in a boating accident and Cruz was in a delirious stage and thought it was Eden. He is the brother of Carmen. He was poisoned when he drank a lot when he thought that Eden was dead and almost died. He hired Eleanor Norris/Elena Nikolas to the agency and turned down her efforts to get him. He married Santana so that she would get her son Brandon from the Capwells. And because Eden was married to Kirk. Tried to stop Edens marriage to Kirk. Was accused of the murder of Elena Nikolas and is now in jail. Was stabbed by a jailmate of Angel Ramirez. So now he is in the hospital. He got out of there and he has founded guilty of the murder. He saw Eden now raise up from the wheelchair.He escaped at the wedding of Kelly and Jeffrey. He then found out that Kirk was behind it all. Cruz and Eden were married in a beautiful ceremony. Cruz is now very confused by the fact that Chip is his son. He was the donor for Chip. He got married to Eden and was destroyed when Eden was raped. She got pregnant and it wasn�t sure who the father was, even Cruz had his doubts. He was still trying to find the rapist who also killed. He and Eden moved leaving the old house to his mother Carmen. Later he was destroyed to find out that their good friend and Eden�s doctor Zack Kelton is the rapist.

He won in Soap opera Digest Awards in 1988 as Outstanding Hero, Outstaning Actor in 1990 and 1991,Outstanding Super Couple award in 1990 with Marcy Walker(Eden), Dayti�me Award as Outstanding Actor in a Daytime Drama in 1989-90.
