This section
of my page is a brief description of
what started
this Pokémon craze, if you don't
know what
started the craze, or when, keep reading.
How
did it start in Japan?
In 1995
in Japan, suddenly found out about the Pokémon game
craze.
Japanese kids and along with adults, found it hard to turn
the off
button on their game boys, they couldn't stop playing the
role playing
game, and trainer their electronic Pocket Monsters.
Pocket
Monsters is the full name; in America it's Pokémon for short.
The original
Japanese name is Poketto Monstaa. The popularity grew
so large
that they released a tv show based on the game, the show was very
popular
and still is. But just as things where going well, a mysterious
phenomenon
made headlines. In the Asian nation, about 700 kids and
adults
reported "seizures" ( convulsions, nausea and dizziness, that can
be caused
by fast flashing lights) while watching the show on December
16, 1997.
If you look in "Guinness World Records" I saw this incident in it.
After being
pulled of the air for a while, Pokémon returned on air, and the
popularity
continued, no incidents are reported so far anywhere. The craze
is so big
in Japan that they opened their own store(only on Pokémon) they
have everything
in there, the store is called "Pokémon Center". If you want
to get
in there you have to wait in line for a long time, I guess it's worth it.
How
did it start here?
In September
1998, Nintendo decided to release Pokémon in English
( also
in French) They exported 4 billion Pokémon industry from Japan
to United
States. The Game Boy game was the fastest selling game, portable
electronic
game in U.S history. The craze was huge, from the tv show we all
love, to
lots of toys released from Hasbro. The tv show is on more than 200
Stations
, the Pokémon craze is still big, even bigger than ever, keep the
Pokémon
within
you. I wonder how long it will last?
