In 1955, when Angela was only three, she starred in the film Somebody Up there Likes Me(1956) as Paul Newman's daughter. The film won two Oscars and a nomination, which Angela shortly followed with Something of Value(1957) with Rock Hudson and Sidney Poiter.
Angela was only five when she began her very successful TV acting career as the adorable little stepdaughter, Linda Williams in Danny Thomas's, Make Room for Daddy(1956-1964). Angela starred on the show for seven seasons; during which time Angela also starred in Lad: A Dog(1962), with Carroll O'Conner. Angela thereafter co-starred with Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer as Brigitta Von Trapp in the multi-award winning film, The Sound of Music(1965).
Soon after, Angela was snatched up by the high profile producer Irwin Allen to play the charming teenage space traveller, Penny Robinson in TV's sci-fi classic: Lost in Space(1965-68). In 1970, Angela, now 18, reprised her role as Linda in the sequel to her original show Make Room for Granddaddy. About this time, Angela also took up professional portrait studio photography and yet still remained an active actress.
In 1976, at 24, Angela Cartwright married. Happily married to and with a successful acting career, Angela and her new husband, Steven Gullion, open a boutique in 1977 in Toluca Lake-- North Hollywood, CA called "Rubber Boots", an eclectic store filled with unusual gifts, original artwork, and a large collection of cards, which they continue to operate until this day. Toluca Lake is a pleasant community in the San Fernando Valley wedged between Universal Studios, Warner Brothers Studios and NBC.
Angela has since given her life to family, business, and childrens portrait photography while occasionally returning the silver screen, like in Irwin Allen's film, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure, several made for TV movies and a slew of TV shows (including Logan's Run, Adam12, Airwolf, and the Love Boat).
In 1998 Angela starred in the major motion picture version of the show she helped make famous: Lost in Space The Movie. Like Make Room for Daddy and The Sound of Music, it remains a classic! Angela remains a profession photographer and manager of her family boutique with her husband while raising their two children (who also help run the shop) in sunny Southern California.
