The Trail of Twisted Trees

The trees along this dark path are arranged in truly odd ways. Many have been pushed over, and their trunks look like they have been hit with a large hammer. The broken trunks of some large, old trees that must have once been very impressive litter the ground along the path. Several younger trees have been twisted into pretzel-like shapes. Only the trees near the path are damaged, though, and you can see that trees deeper in the forest are unharmed. You notice an odd indentation in one of the trees close to the path and decide to investiagate.

The splintered tree lies about two feet from the path, and the indentation is near the middle of the trunk. Looking closely at the damaged area, you notice that the indentation looks very much like a footprint. It's too large to be a human footprint though, so you begin to wonder if the creature that made the footprint is still around here, and if it could be responisble for the devestation around you. Deciding that you'd rather not encounter the creature that could do this much damage to the forest, you quickly look to see where the trail leads so you can leave this area.

The trail continues directly north, getting steeper as it approaches the end of the forest. Not far from the forest's edge, the trail enters a nearby mountain range. To the south, the trail leads to a beach, and beyond that is a shimmering lake. A castle stands on the far side of the lake.

You can walk...

NorthNorth, into the mountains.
SouthSouth, to the beach.
