The early morning Inverness - Aberdeen Enterprise

This train suffered from poor loadings.  On this particular July morning in 1998, 37 684 had a short set of empty cement PCAs for return to Dunbar.  The 07.10 6A08 from Inverness operated as a light engine a few times, then was soon withdrawn and replaced with a trip from Aberdeen to Elgin only.

The afternoon return working was equally lightly loaded and again often operated as a light engine.  freight through Nairn is now rare.
