Hurst
Models are continuing to
develop their range of parts and bits for modelling coaching stock and some associated
equipment. Recent releases have included TPO vehicles as brass overlay kits for
Bachmann Mark1 coaches. Hurst Models also develops paints in conjunction with Phoenix Precision to introduce previously unavailable colours. Scotrail modellers will welcome the new range of Hebridean colours of green and cream, suitable for Hornby MK2 models. If like me, you find the varied and elusive research vehicles allocated to the research companies in Derby of interest, the range of conversion kits is now supported by the correct Serco Railtest paint colours, including red and grey. The graphics have been reproduced in 4mm scale to complete the picture. Paint: Railtrack graphics are also available, including the Railtrack logo and Sandite vehicle graphics. Sadly, the recent trend toward over-critical appraisal of models (including mine) and products produced by manufacturers like Hurst Models means that quite some damage is caused to reputable manufacturers. Hurst Models has drawn attention to the fact that the model press has pointed out that some kits and detailing parts produced by Hurst are "wrong". This is a reaction to them being different to the prototype as seen at the moment. It should always be remembered that research vehicles are adapted for each programme of experiments and modifications have been made to vehicles since the kits were produced. Modellers are advised to check and model from photographs whenever possible. |
