Synopsis Title: Gothic Love Tales (Collection) Author: Bridgette Cassis Genre: Gothic Romance �Gothic Love Tales�, is a collection of darkly romantic short stories set in the gothic genre that combine elements of mystery, intrigue and romance. They are set in the current day, reflecting the darker side of love and romance. The stories include themes of darkness and light, the agony and ecstasy of love, the two sides of love and women, including different emotions and perspectives of love with the more spiritual sides of women or �archetypes�, interwoven through the tales. They are: The �maiden� (youth), the virgin (purity), the vamp (sensuality), the �goddess� (strength, wisdom and endurance, the �siren� (intellectual and artistic gifts), and the muse (creativity). Each representing different facets of women and illustrating outlooks of the characters. The stories look at lust, betrayal, deception, twisted obsession, sex, revenge, the shadow, misuse of personal power, the vamp, the machiavellian seducer, addiction, the �shadow� extremes of love and fantasy, interwoven with fairy tale imagery set in contemporary situations. They have a dark sensuality with psychic, occult and psychological themes, and look at the darker recesses of the human psyche as well as the lighter side of love, along with mythological themes of the horror genre They are set in the present day, in different locations, such as the canal at Little Venice, Regents park, Camden, a University in Brighton, an artists studio and various wild locations which provide the atmosphere from which the stories unfold, into a myriad of mysterious gothic subplots, reflecting the atmosphere of the characters and plots.
