EXTRAORDINARY MYSTERY ON THE RAILWAY NEAR KENDAL.

On Monday a messenger arrived in Kendal In quest of medical  assistance who, reported that a man had been found nearly killed on the line of the London and North Western Railway at Lambrigg crossing, not far from Oxenholme.    Dr. Noble, accompanied by Mr. Murray, at once set off, and on arriving at the spot found that the man had sustained most terrible injuries, his skull being split upon and his legs smashed in a frightful manner. He was speedily removed to Kendal by a special train, and for want of accommodation at the hospital he was taken to the workhouse infirmary where he soon after died He was unable to give any account of himself, and the only paper found on him was a third-class ticket for Liverpool, with which it is said he was travelling by a fast train which reached Oxenholme at 10.15.
The most extraordinary thing is that he must have left the train when going, probably at the rate of 40 miles an hour, by the side at which the doors were locked, which would seem to suggest the idea of attempted suicide or foul play, rather than accident.
