A STRETCH of track lifted only five months ago could be relaid to allow Barrow-Leeds through trains to run, The Carnforth East Junction to Carnforth Furness & Midland Junction line was lifted in November as part of the Carnforth Rationalisation Scheme. This also saw Carnforth East Junction and Carnforth Furness & Midland signalboxes demolished. Railtrack is currently in talks with the Rail Passenger Partnership (RPP) to assess the possibility of reinstating the line. RPP includes Lancashire, Cumbria and Blackpool councils and the Greater Manchester PTA. OPRAF has been approached to finance a feasibility study.
