Railway Clearing House Map
From
about 1880, new laws required that new railways connect to existing
railways, if at all possible. Unfortunately, many of the Railway
Companies did not wish to completely co-operate with other companies,
and fees to run over other railways tracks became very complicated. The
Railway Clearing House was created to sort this problem out.
With
so many companies trying to use so many different routes, maps like the
ones above had to be published. This map appears to be from
1913,judging by the date on the bottom left hand corner of the map.
