Due to its large size and extreme weight, the FPS-35 surveillance radar was set atop a multi-story, reinforced concrete tower. Served by a freight elevator, this sturdy structure contained the radar's operating equipment and also supported its impressive 75 ton antenna.

The fairly large truck parked near the left side of the building provides an indication of the size of the radar antenna and its tower.
