View from AN/FPS-35 Radar Tower

The Operations Building can be seen in the foreground of this photo, partly obscured by the shadow of the AN/FPS-35 radar tower and antenna. To the left is an older radar tower of concrete construction. It is flanked by the a tower of later design which once supported a height-finder radar. Colored "day-glo" pink, that tower is presently used as a navigational daymark by local fishermen and boaters.

The white and red tower of the historic Montauk Lighthouse can be seen in the background. It sits atop a steep bluff which marks the easternmost extremity of Long Island. Adjacent to the lighthouse is a spotting tower which served the World War Two era Coast Artillery battery at Camp Hero.
