"dear inmate - a letter from 'robyn'"
march 18th Like a zoo round here lately. REALLY HECTIC. And this morning RITA BURGER (who KNOWS what her job title is) sashays into the module and makes some announcement about these Catholic school girzz who have written a bunch of letters to the inmates as a project...see...so she hands them out among les populance. My, "Dear inmate" letter is from a 13 year old named "Robyn". She puts a peace sign near her name. She says, "I'm sure whatever you did to get into this place you didn't mean it". Well, hon, I didn't mean it as it's yet understood..all in good time. Look, this is a nice thing and I'm not gonna mock it. I'll write Robyn the dullest letter of thanks as propriety dictates. Couldn't help but be taken aback by the thought of hooking us up with little girls direct from the Ramsey County Jail. But then, we feel certain JonBenet's killer doesn't stop and spin amongst us. Last night I stood on the tier and happened to be looking right at the guard booth door when an inmate went up to open it and ask for toilet paper. The knob broke off in his hands. The look on his face was priceless. Fear of blame etc. Anyone know where in the name of Jesus H Christ I can get a yurt, a tipi or maybe a portable dome? A propane refrigerator? I think I'll do a BIG old hit of crack in the jail parking lot when I get out. The HOPE would be that I would get disabled enough to get some lousy disability check. current | 1999 | 1998 | colfax diaries |
